The idea behind the contest is that the rigid constraints of designing for the web are what force us to get truly creative. Between servers and bandwidth, clients and users, HTML and the DOM, browsers and platforms, our conscience and our ego, we're left in a very small space to find highly optimal solutions. Since the space we have to explore is so small, we have to look harder, get more creative; and that's what makes it all interesting. Just celebrating that is all.
This contest is an objective tool that any web designer is welcome to use. A tool to prove your own skills by showing your own work in your own page. A tool to test your skills with other designers and developers. And a tool to help give you a better idea of ways to improve designing for your personal use.
Over 16,000 web designers, developers, and writers contribute to the free ALA mailing list. Our moderators select the best posts to deliver a digest that is focused, professional, and provocative.
