Tonight I walked past a pond where a duck and eight or nine ducklings were swimming. The ducklings were about a quarter to a third of the size of a full-grown duck and they were starting to look like real ducks, though still a bit fluffy.
They were beeping excitedly, and once in every while one would start swimming faster, sort of jump so its chest came up above the water, and flop back down. It would swim for a bit and then repeat the procedure.
Somehow, I had never wondered how ducks learn to fly.
